Thad Troy – First 16 Year Old Blood Donor

For Thad Troy, donating blood is a family affair. Thad made his first blood donation on his Sixteenth Birthday. His father, who at the time was awaiting a heart transplant, had been a multi-gallon donor before he became ill and had always stressed the importance of giving blood. Thad followed in his footsteps. He has also become a platelet donor, since his blood type is the universal donor.

Thad continues to be a dedicated blood and platelet donor. He encourages his friends to donate as well. His father has since received a heart transplant, and he and Thad feel very blessed to have been on both the giving and receiving end of life saving donation.
