The Rock River Valley Blood Center has been collecting more than blood lately. Since Jan. 8, the organization has encouraged all blood donors to also contribute non-perishable food donations.
All food collected through Jan. 22 will be presented to the Rock River Valley Food Pantry at their mobile blood drive held Wednesday, Jan. 24.
As part of this community collaboration, the YMCA near each RRVBC donor center has also donated a trial family membership as a prize to a lucky member from each site who showed up as a double hero by donating food items and blood. The winners will be drawn and announced during the mobile blood drive.
