The Rock River Valley Blood Center (RRVBC), in partnership with Rockford Anderson Auto Group, will host a 9/11 Patriots Day Blood Drive on Thursday, Sept. 11, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 5711 E. State St., Rockford.

The annual blood drive honors the lives lost in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and recognizes the heroism of first responders. Community members are encouraged to donate blood to support patients across the Rock River Valley, where local hospitals and clinics rely on RRVBC for more than 650 blood products each week.

The first 50 successful donors will receive a complimentary Patriots Day T-shirt and a free meal from Batchz BBQ food truck.

“Sept. 11 is a day of remembrance and reflection, but it is also an opportunity to take action,” said Lisa Entrikin, CEO of RRVBC. “Every blood donation is a way to honor the bravery and sacrifice of that day while helping save lives right here in our community.”

Appointments are recommended but not required. To schedule a donation, visit rrvbc.org or call 815-965-8751. Walk-ins are welcome.
