The Rock River Valley Blood Center (RRVBC) is partnering with WREX to host the 2nd annual Rescue Rockford Blood Drive from Tuesday, Sept. 30, through Saturday, Oct. 11. The two-week initiative encourages the Rockford community to donate blood and platelets to support local hospitals and rescue missions, while helping maintain a stable blood supply and highlighting the importance of giving back.
“Every donation can save up to three lives,” said Lisa Entrikin, CEO of RRVBC. “Those lives could belong to a family member, a friend, or even a neighbor. That’s why we’re so excited to partner with WREX and make donating blood easy, rewarding, and meaningful for the community.”
To thank donors for their life-saving contributions, each participant will be entered into a raffle with exciting prizes:
- Daily prize: A $30 gift card to Tavern on Clark for one lucky donor each day.
- Grand prize: A chance to win tickets to see Wheel of Fortune Live at the Coronado Theater.
The Rescue Rockford Blood Drive will take place at the following donation center locations and on these days during the two-week initiative:
Downtown Donor Center
418 N. Longwood St., Rockford
- Tuesdays: 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Wednesdays and Thursdays: 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Fridays: 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Perryville Donor Center
3065 N. Perryville Road, Rockford
- Tuesdays through Thursdays: 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Fridays and Saturdays: 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Appointments to donate blood are recommended to reduce wait times but are not required. To schedule a donation, visit rrvbc.org or call 815-965-8751. Walk-ins are welcome.
